Figure Name: Maisie
Date Created:
Unknown Created by: Leonardo
Used by:
Leonardo
Special Features:
moving eyes, "bubble gum"
Trivia:
1. South American vent Leonardo's real name was Horatio M.
Ortega.
2. Maisie has a small rubber balloon between her teeth that can be
inflated from the rear to simulate a bubble gum bubble being
blown.
3. Leonardo's figures (The museum has six of them) lack the
exaggerated features--the wide eyes, large smile, and heavy
makeup--of more familiar figuremakers. As a result, many visitors to
the museum comment on the "life-like" nature of the
figures.
4. Maisie was donated in 1985 by Leonardo's daughter-in-law.
5. A photo of Maisie blowing her bubble gum can be found on this
website in the
gallery dedicated to Leonardo.
6. Maisie is on display in Building two on the left hand side of the
building. She can be seen on display by viewing the
Quicktime Virtual Pan Number One. Turn and look into the
left hand side of the room. Maisie can be seen sitting in a folding
chair just inside the door (She is wearning blue pants and the white
top from the photo at left).
